Refinement

Modern and professional

To ensure that our customers receive quality products, significant investments have been made at the production facilities where our hides and skins are refined. Norilia's hide and skin processing facility at Skjeberg is one of Europe's most modern hide and skin refinement facilities.

Mechanical pulling and immediate chilling

All hides in Norway are machine pulled and cooled down immediately after skinning. All hides are machine pulled in Denmark as well and chilled shortly after at Himmerlandskød's processing facility in Rødkærsbro. The plant is newly built and has a modern and very effective chilling facility. Within a short time, the cattle hides are chilled to just above freezing.

Fresh and wet salted hides and drum salted skins

We offer fresh and wet salted hides and drum salted skins of high quality, which we export across the world.

Professional and modern refinement of our quality Scandinavian hides and skins

To ensure that our customers receive quality products, significant investments have been made at the production facilities where our hides and skins are refined: Norilia's hide plant in Skjeberg, Norway, and Himmerlandskød's hide plant in Rødkjærsbro in mid-Jutland, Denmark. Shortly after pulling, hides are chilled to just above freezing. The hides remain continuously chilled until they reach the hide plant in Skjeberg. Here, hides are trimmed, graded, and, when relevant, salted. Our skins are also removed with a hide puller and immediately drum salted in the abattoir. Grading of skins takes place at Skjeberg.

Sustainable quality products

The Scandinavian countries have different preconditions for their agriculture, but what they all have in common is strict regulation regarding livestock and animal welfare. Animal health here is good, which means good animal welfare, safe food, and lower greenhouse gas emissions. Effective production, combined with animals that provide both meat and milk, contributes to lowering the greenhouse gas emissions per produced unit. Cattle and sheep contribute to biodiversity by grazing. By utilizing all plus-products to create new products, as well as new product cycles, we contribute to the development of the bioeconomy and a circular economy.
